Bengaluru, March 23, 2024 – Travellers seeking paradise can rejoice! IndiGo, India’s leading airline, has announced a brand new direct flight route connecting Bengaluru with Agatti Island, the heart of the Lakshadweep archipelago. This exciting development, set to take off on March 31, 2024, will mark Agatti as IndiGo’s 88th domestic destination and further bolster Lakshadweep’s position on the Indian aviation map.
“We are thrilled to welcome Lakshadweep, India’s captivating island paradise, as our 88th domestic destination,” said Mr. Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales at IndiGo. “The breathtaking landscapes, pristine beaches, and vibrant marine life are sure to enthrall travelers seeking an idyllic escape.”
This new route promises to revolutionize travel to Lakshadweep. Previously, reaching the islands often involved connecting flights or lengthy journeys by sea. IndiGo’s direct service from Bengaluru will significantly reduce travel time and provide tourists with greater ease of access.
The airline plans to operate ATR aircraft on this route, offering comfortable seating for approximately 78 passengers. ATRs are known for their fuel efficiency and are well-suited for shorter regional flights.
“The launch of these new flights will not only enhance Lakshadweep’s tourism potential but also strengthen overall travel and connectivity to the islands,” Mr. Malhotra added. IndiGo remains committed to its promise of providing affordable, punctual, and hassle-free travel experiences, making Lakshadweep more accessible than ever before.
Agatti Island, a haven for nature lovers and adventure seekers, is renowned for its stunning turquoise waters, coral reefs teeming with marine life, and pristine sandy beaches. Tourists can indulge in a variety of activities, including kayaking, deep-sea fishing, scuba diving, and exploring the surrounding uninhabited islands like Bangaram, Pitti, Thinnakara, Parali-I, and Parali-II.
This new route is expected to be a boon for the Lakshadweep tourism industry. Improved air connectivity will likely lead to a surge in visitor arrivals, benefiting local businesses, restaurants, and hotels. Travellers can now look forward to a seamless travel experience, allowing them to spend less time getting there and more time soaking up the beauty of Lakshadweep.
IndiGo’s expansion into Lakshadweep reflects the growing demand for domestic travel within India. As wanderlust continues to grip the nation, airlines are strategically adding new routes to cater to the evolving needs of travelers.
This direct flight promises to open doors for a wider audience to discover the hidden gem of Lakshadweep, further solidifying its position as a must-visit destination in India.
